Transhipment Services Australia is currently operating out of Wyndham’s, Cambridge Gulf. Contracting two tugs and 3 barges to Kimberley Metals Group (KMG) which is servicing the Ridges Iron Ore export Project. Transhipment Services Australia’s Directors played an integral part in the setup and were involved in the risk assessment and construction of the barge loading facility and associate marine infrastructure. Transhipment Services Australia consulted with the relevant authorities and manage the pilotage of the bulk carrier ships used to export the iron ore.

For this iron ore project the area of operation and environment for the tugs and barges is extremely challenging due to extreme temperatures and some of the largest tidal ranges in the world. Transhipment Services Australia has proven that it has the knowledge and experience to handle the toughest of projects while delivering on its contractual requirement’s to the highest standards when others said it couldn’t be done.

This iron ore project has an expected mine life of another four years based on a production rate of 1.5 Mt per annum, with a high probability of increased production through future exploration success and the beneficiation of lower grade ore.

Transhipment Services Australia commenced shipping iron ore in July 2011 through KMG’s private export facility. The company is currently exporting in excess of 150,000 tonnes per month of iron ore fines to the markets in China. In April 2014 the milestone of 5 million Mt shipped was achieved and Transhipment Services Australia have just loaded the 115th ship successfully using the transhipment method of ship loading.
